Personal Shoot No.12 Work Diary

In this shoot, the main focal point was the models hair as i wanted ito look into to commercial hair photography. I decided to have the models hair to one side as it gives it more of a main focal point and shows of the face shape of the model. I edited the photograph to be in black and white to give it a high end fashion photography feel. I would consider changing the colour of the background just so that the model and hair stands out as much as possible to maintain the audiences attention.

In this photograph I chose to have the model swish her hair as this is something I found common  in commercial hair photography and makes it seem very appealing to the audience. I was pleased with how the brown background turned out as the model and her hair can be seen really clearly against the this background

If i was to do this shoot again, i would like to do more of the model flicking her hair as this is much more interesting than the model just being stationary.

What influenced me to do this shoot?
I was influenced to do this shoot by looking back at my personal image bank and therefore wanting to include it in my personal project.

As this is my last shoot I feel that my whole project is very diverse as I have been very open minded with all my shoots .

Personal Shoot No.11 Work Diary

In this photograph I chose to take a bite out of one of the  mince pies in order to show the audience both the outside and inside and to imply that they fast just so good that I could not resist taking a bite. However to improve this photograph I could make sure that the whole of one of the mince pies was in the photo so that the audience gets to see the appearance of the mince pie as this helps with the selling of a product. I also feel that this photo could be improved by using a brighter tone like in the photograph below.
This is one of my photographs from 11th personal shoot. I was inspired to do this shoot due it nearly being christmas therefore i was seeing a lot of commercial photography around me which was advertising festive foods and items. I decided to place the mince pie on a bed of fake snow to give the photograph a more festive feel as well as creating a contrast against the golden coloured mince pies. When positioning the mince pie, i chose to pile them on top of each other in order to create depth in the photograph by showing that the objects were 3D. When looking at the rule of thirds, i decided to place the mince pies within the centre and right hand side of the composition. This gives the sense of the eyes being able to lead up to the mince pie as we read from left to right. The colours which are running through the photograph are warm which links to the fact that they are to be consumed at home on a cold winters day.

If i was to improve this shoot, i would consider including a model to make the photograph more realistic and in a life like setting.

What influenced me to do this shoot?
I was influenced to do this shoot by looking back at my personal image bank as well as this being something which I have wanted to look at from the beginning of my project

As a resukt of this shoot, I feel that I have added more diversity to my work however I do not feel that this is soemhting that I will continue to look at as I feel that my previoius has been better.

Future shoot
In a future shoot I would like to look at at something different such as hair as this was something that I noticed when looking back at my personal image bank therefore I wanted to incorporate into my project.

Personal Shoot No.10 Work Diary

In this photograph I have chosen to only show half of the models face as this creates room for the audience to imagine the other half and what she is looking at. I also chose to use a bright red lipstick as this stands out from the black background and the models skin as well as giving her a sophisticated appearance. Also the model appears to be glowing which works very well with a commercial makeup photograph as it gives the audience the sense that this make up make your skin glow.

In this photograph I once again chose to only show part of the face however this was to emphasise the eye and mascara.  The black background allows the bright yellow mascara to stand out and be the main focal point of the photograph. The eye is placed on the centre line of the composition. The photograph uses the rule of thirds by positioning the end of the mascara in the first third of the photograph. In the last third is the eye in which the mascara is being applied this allows the audience to look at the photograph from left to right as a book would be read.

If I were to do this shoot again, to improve it I would look at other make up products and consider doing a before and after style shoot to show the effect of using the particular product. I would look at photographing the product alone in order to create a range of advertising techniques.

What influenced me to do this shoot?
I was influenced to do this shoot by two of my previous shoots lokkingbat commercail make up photograph. I have already look at photographing the product and video therfore this time I wanted to look at showing the model wearing and applying the product.

As a result of this shoot, I feel that I have done all I can with make up therefore I would like to continue to look at something different

Future shoot
In a future shoot I would like to look at a different approach to commercial photography such as food as this is an idea which I was interested in looking at from the beginning.

Personal Shoot No.8 Work Diary

In this shoot i wanted to look at commercial photograph in a way in which i hadn't thought about before   which was to incorporate fashion by photographing clothing opposed to photographing a model. I feel this shoot turned out better than i expected therefore i am very pleased with the outcome. I created this photograph by hanging sting from one end of the studio to the other and then pegging the clothes to the the line. Also in this specific example i got air under the dress to make it look as if it was blowing in the wind. When editing the photograph, i used the spot healing tool to then erase the string to create the effect that the dress was floating in the air.

From this shoot, i decided to make an animation which  shows the front and the back of the dress. This not only a very unique and individual way of showing the dress but also allows the audience to see both sides of the dress in one photograph. The dress also has the illusion of floating which creates a mysterious photograph.

If i was to do this shoot again, i would like to look at creating this by with a more urban feel by placing the clothes against a brick wall with coat hangers which appear to be floating apposed to the pegs.

What influenced me to do this shoot
I was influenced to do this shoot from my previous shoot showing commercial fashion photography through models however this time i wanted to try something different by just photographing the clothes on there own.

As a result of this shoot, i feel that i am much more open minded when shooting commercial photograph as I have realised that there is more than just taking the photograph and that different ways of editing will help towards the selling of the product.

Future Shoot
In a future shoot,I would like to look at something different like make up however I would like to incorporate video as this is a technique in which I enjoyed therefore I feel that it will be something interesting to look at in my own project.

Personal Shoot No.7 Work Diary

This is one of the photographs from this shoot. I decided to position the model in the centre of the composition and to have him looking down as this was something which i found worked well when looking a current photographers work. I used an off white background to add warmth to the photograph as it was more of an autumn/winter look which i was going for opposed to spring/summer which is much brighter. I liked this photograph as the model appears relaxed and unposed which is the look in which i wanted to create throughout this personal shoot.

This is another one of the photographs from this shoot. This specific photograph is showing a more smart look compared to the one above. Again the model is placed in the centre of the composition however this time he is looking directly at the camera which i feel involves the audience and allows them to connect with the model. When editing this photograph, i decided to make it black and white as i feel it added a fine art approach to commercial photography which is something i have not seen done before.

If I was to do this shoot again I would, look more closely at the ways I could edit the photographs. For example I have changed the colouring in each of these photographs however I would experiment with different shapes, repetitions and animations.

What influenced me to do this shoot
I was influenced to do this shoot from shoot 4 as i wanted to continue to look at fashion however this time i wanted i to look at different colours whether it be clothing or when editing the photograph.

As a result of this shoot, i feel much more confident with photographing people especially when making them look more professional and fashion like.

Future Shoot
In a future shoot, i would like to look at just photographing the clothing on its own opposed to it being modelled by someone. I would like to experiment with the editing of the shots to make the clothes look as if they are floating in the air as this i feel will make my photographs unique to others which i have seen.

Personal Shoot No.6 Work Diary

In this shoot i wanted to experiment with animation by showing the different colour nail vanishes. With this specific example i also created depth of field by making the nail vanish nearest to the camera appear much larger than the nail vanish furthest away from the camera however we know that they are the same size. By having them change one after the other it allows each individual colour stand out by it self to ensure that all the colour are seen and acknowledged by the audience. If i were to do this shoot again, i would like to use much brighter colour and maybe focus on photographing each nap vanish at a time opposed to various in one shot.

This is another example of my work from this shoot. My thought behind this photograph was to make the nail vanishes look as if they are placed naturally rather than positioned. When editing this photograph i decided to delete the background in order to ensure that the nail vanishes standout as well as making the nail vanishes brighter to allow the glittery colours to look as if they are shining in the light. By using lighting from above, i was able to create a shadow underneath the bottle of nail vanish which shows the form allowing the audience to see that that these are 3D bottles of nail vanish.

If i was to do this shoot again I would consider focusing on an individual nail vanish as this would give me a more specific focus and will allow me to experiment with the composition of a single bottle. I would also change the background colour as this could be used to contrast and create a more interesting photograph.

What influenced me to do this shoot
I was influenced to do this shoot from my previous shoot which was of 'Smirnoff' as i wanted to photograph liquid products in an alternative way therefore i decided to do it with nail vanish. Also i was influenced from my very first shoot as included a animation with the nail vanish to add diversity to my work.

As a result of this shoot, i would like to look at photographing make up from a  commercial point of view whether it be just the products or with a model showing the make-up.

Future Shoot
In a future shoot, i would like to look at photographing make-up in a different way by showing the model wearing and applying the make-up opposed to just the product.

Personal Shoot No.9 Work Diary

I was inspired to make this video from the No.7 advert which is advertising lipstick and also i wanted to incorporate video into my photography work as this can be closely linked to commercial photography. I decided to just include the models mouth and nose as the whole idea of the video is the lips matching the music to portray that she is wearing the correct lipstick, showing that she is in sync. I included various different colour lipstick to show diversity which adds to the persuasive element of the video. I chose 'All about that bass' as my song as i wanted the video to create a happy, lively atmosphere and this song does as it is upbeat and positive.

This shoot has inspired me to make more videos as i feel this is more creative way of showing commercial photography and it was something which i had not done before. If i was to this shoot again, i would do it with my camera as i felt that this was slight fuzzy. Also i would like to use more vibrant coloured lipstick in order to make the lips strand out more as this is the main focus of the video.

What influenced me to do this shoot?
I was influenced to do this shoot due to me doing video as one of my techniques and I enjoyed it. Therefore I thought that it would be a good idea to try to incorporate video into my own personal project.

As a result of the shoot, I would no longer like to use video in my personal project as I feel that it will be hard to incorporate with different elements of commercial photography

Future Shoot
In a future shoot,I would like to still look at make upo however I would like to show the model with the make up on therefore I would have tried a variety of different ways to show this type of commercial photography.

Video Work Diary

This is one of the video which i created for the video technique. When i was thinking about what i wanted to video, i wanted to some how relate it to fine art in the way in which there was no meaning behind it and that it was there purely to just look at. With this specific video i edited it on premiere pro to make it look like there was two different movements of the flag rather than just one, I did this by slowing one copy of the video down to ensure that the flag would move at a different time to the original. This is feel gave the flags a ghostly look them as if they had control over them self rather than the wind having control over them and making them move

Personal Shoot No.5 Work Diary

This is my best photograph from my 5th personal shoot. My aim to achieve a good commercial photography for 'Smirnoff' wss to place the bottle into piles of ice cubes to portray refreshness within the photograph. By keeping the background simple, i was able to make the red sections of the bottle standout which is where the companies logo is therefore this is a key element in trying to sell this product. When editing this specific photograph, i decided to use the smart sharpen tool to allow the ice cubes to have depth as well as establishing the edge of the bottle from the ice that it is on.

In this second photograph from my 5th personal shoot, i decided that i wanted to take a different approach. I kept the ice cubes as the background, however i wanted to take this photograph much closer up allowing the audience to only see the top part of the bottle showing the company logo. I thought that this was acceptable as 'Smirnoff' are a well known and established company therefore they do not need to necessarily specify that it is vodka. Again this photograph has overall feel of refreshment and freshness to it due to the use of the piles of ice cubes surrounding the bottle of 'Smirnoff'.

This shoot has influenced me to look at more drink commercial photography as i feel this i something that i a better at due to me previously having photographed liquid last year. If i was to do this shoot again, i would consider using brighter lighting as well as editing it to be different colours to represent nightlife.

What influenced me to do this shoot
I was influenced to do from shoot 3 as i wanted to continue to look at drink as this was something that i found interesting due to the different lighting which i hadn't used before.

As a result of this shoot i feel much more confident with photographing drink therefore it is something that i would like to continue to experiment with throughout this project.

Future Shoot
In a future shoot, i would like to look at photographing liquid however through cosmetics such as nail vanish opposed to drinks. This means that i will be able to use my knowledge of lighting liquid in this shoot therefore i will be able to approach it with confidence.

Personal Shoot No.4 Work Diary

This is one of my photographs from my forth personal shoot. The idea of this shoot was to take commercial photographs for a mens fashion retailer. As i was unfamiliar with this type of photographer i decided to start of with just one outfit per model. I used a white background as this is typical of fashion commercial photographs. In this specific photograph, i have edited it to have three of my photographs within one composition to show the one outfit from different angles and poses in which the model is in. I chose to have this model in black and white as it very simplistic however clearly shows the monochrome trend in which i was interested in for this model due to his darker skin and hair.

This is another one of my photographs from my forth personal shoot. Again i used the white background to create a clear contrast between the model and the background as well as allowing the brightly coloured top to standout as the main item of clothing. In this specific photograph i decided to have the model looking towards one side as i felt that it looked more natural than having him looking directly at the camera. The models posture is relaxed which is reflected in the clothing in which he is wearing as it casual and comfortable.

If i was to do this shoot again, i would like to use a variety of different outfit in order to portray the different seasons such as summer and winter.  I also would like to experiment with different angles and poses as i felt that each photograph was too similar. Also to improve this shoot I would look at using a location to add more visual aspects to each photograph and to give the audience a more realistic view of the clothing.
What influenced me to do this shoot
I was influenced to do this shoot throughout looking back at my person project image bank and finding many examples of fashion commercial photograph. This was something that i hadn't looked at before therefore i wanted to try something new and different.

As a result of this shoot, i would like to continue to incorporate fashion into project as it was something that i enjoyed shooting.

Future Shoot
A future shoot which i would like to do it to continue with fashion however look at different outfit and colours in order to show different mood, emotion or seasons.

Slow Sync Work Diary

This is my first response to the technique slow sync. I was able to create this photograph by using the red head light which allows constant light as well as using a flash which enabled me to have part of the subject in focus. This specific photograph shows the movement of moving the head from side to side, the blurred section show the process it has taken to get from one side to the other. By using a black background, it enables the blurred sections to stand out as well as the section which is in focus, if this was against a busy looking background that would also become blurred for example at a party or night club.

This is my second response to the technique slow syne. I have created this again by using the red head light  along  with the flash, again enabling me to have part of the subject in focus as well as parts of it being blurred. I created this specific photograph by asking the model to walk across the composition therefore allowing me to capture the whole process of the model walking across the composition. The last movement of the model is sharp and in focus compared to the rest which is blurred.

Multiple Flash Work Dairy

This is my first response to the technique multiple flash. In this example i have simple created a illusion in which there are two of the model which are facing each other. By using the black background i was able to keep continuity when changing the position of the model, this also helped in creating a contrast to ensure the model stand out even when the exposure is changing due to the adding of layers. The thing that i would improve on this photograph is the fact that in one of the shots the model face is not lit by the light as she had to face the opposition direction to achieve this photograph.

This is my second response to multiple flash. In this photograph i wanted to create a repetition of the model across the composition. Again i used a black background to ensure all the light was on the model to create a good contrast between the model and the background as well as the different shots of the model. Also i had to correctly expose the light to ensure that each shot did not get darker which is something that can easily happen. The model face can be clearly seen in each shot however the one thing that i would change is the fact that body of the model overlaps in each shot which i see as a negativity to the overall photograph.

Personal Shoot No.3 Work Diary

This is one of my photographs from my third personal shoot. The idea of this shoot was to advertise 'Magners' . I decided to use a black background as i felt that it look sophisticated as well as simple. This can be inferred that the drink alone is enough to explain the reason to buy it opposed to having a funky eye appealing background. I decided to include the apple as this is a key ingredient to the drink and also shows the freshness of the drink. When arranging the lighting i was able to manipulate the shape of the bottle in order to add depth which made the bottle appear 3D in the photograph.

This is another one of my photographer for my third personal shoot. I decided to take this photo landscape to include more of the background. Even though that there is nothing exciting and special about the background, the pure simplicity of the photograph would appeal the audience and make them think about the simple ingredients within the drink therefore making them want to try it. Again i decided to include the apple as it made the photograph more interesting to look at oppose to it being just the 'Magners' bottle.

If i was to do this shoot again, i would like to focus on the actual drink itself apposed to the bottle. I can imagine doing this by photographing the drink being poured into an ice cold glass. This would create more diverse photographs and would entice the audience into wanting to drink it.

What influenced me to do this shoot
I was influenced to do this shoot from my previous shoot of perfume. This is due to me enjoying photographing the liquid or bottles with liquid in as i was able to experiment with lighting the liquid and the bottle.

As a result of this shoot i would like to continue to look at drinks as this is something which i am interested in as i am able to use different background to reflect the drink in a positive way.

Future Shoot
A future shoot that i would like to do is to look at photographing 'Smirnoff' as i feel this will be challenging as the bottle is transparent therefore i will have to look at different lighting. I would also like to look at using a more adventurous background in order to portray the drink as ice cold and refreshing.

Personal Shoot No.2 Work Dairy

This is one of my photographs from my second personal shoot. The idea behind this shoot was to advertise a perfume which was very girly and feminine. Therefore keeping this is mind, i decided to start with a light pink background to match the pink tint in the bottle. I used the same colour as the surface for the bottle to sit on. By having to polystyrene boards i was able to create a white edge around the bottle to add depth to make it look 3D.  Also by having the lights on the bottle, a slight shadow has been created on the surface which i like as it adds to the 3D effect which i wanted to created. The thing that i would improve in this photograph is the brightness of the lid of the perfume as i feel this looks dull compared to the rest of the things in the composition.

This is another one of my photographs from my second personal shoot. Compared to the other above photograph i decided to shown more of the background however still keeping the bottle of perfume in the centre of the composition to ensure that it is the centre of the composition. Again i used the same lighting as the one above creating the slight shadow to add a 3D effect which is supported by the white lines created by the polystyrene boards either side of the bottle. The thing that i would improve in this photography, is the line which established the background from the surface in which is bottle is one as i would like this to not be visible therefore creating a seamless background and surface.

If i was to do this shoot again, i would like to look at different colour schemes other than pink in order to explore in to how to light different coloured background to avoid any harsh shadows. I would also like to look at different lighting to the bottle itself to achieve different results.

What influenced me to do this shoot
I was influenced to do this shoot when looking at my personal project image bank as i found many interesting example of commercial photographing involving perfume. Also i wanted to look at the different ways of editing the photograph as this was something which stood out to me when looking at other examples of perfume photographs.

As a result of this shoot, i would like to continue to look at photographing products which contain liquid as i enjoyed experimenting with the lighting the bottle and the liquid

Future Shoot
In a future shoot, i would like to look at photographing liquid however through drink rather than perfume as i feel that i would be able to be creative with the background and lighting in order to reflect the type of drink i am photographing whether it be alcoholic or not.

Animation Work Diary

 photo Animation-one_zps47ef9159.gif
This is my first animation which i made consist of the model moving her arms up and down. As i had the camera on a tripod i was able to make sure that the positioning of the subject does not move to make sure that it looks realistic. When photographing this, i asked the model to move her ask up gradually and then when putting it together i was able to use the same photograph to make her arms go up then down.

 photo Animation-two_zps6a863304.gif
This is my second animation consist of one the model punching the other model whilst she moves her head out of the way. This is a humorous animation rather than serious. Again by having the camera on a tripod i was able to avoid any distortions with in the animation.

Personal Shoot No.1 Work Diary

 photo animation2_zps91b4b7ca.gif
For my first personal shoot, i decided that i wanted to make an animation advertising starburst. I wanted to make it look fun and appeal to a young audience. I made the animation link to the product at hand by making it look like the sweets burst into a star as they come out of the bag. I had to make the animation black and white as i felt there was a change in colour between the photographs, Therefore i would like to do this shoot again and instead have the camera on a tripod to ensure that there is no differences in light and colour when referring to the background. I would like to do a shoot of this kind again as felt that this did not really go to plan therefore by having done this shoot i will be able to build upon this to make the next animation better.

If i was to do this shoot again, i would put the camera on a tripod to ensure that the framing is the same in each shoot. This would therefore ensure that there is no jumping about between each shot. This would also make sure that the lighting in each shoot is the same.

What influenced me to do this shoot
I was influenced to do this shoot through doing animation as a technique previously therefore it was something that i wanted to incorporate into my personal project.

As a result of this shoot i would now like to include more animation within my personal project as i feel that this is an alternative way of showing commercial photography.

Future Shoot
Another shoot i would like to progress on to from this shoot, is to do another animation however with other products such as clothing as this is something i haven't seen before and therefore would like to experiment with.

Multiple Exposure Work Diary

This is one of my responses to the technique multiple exposure. I have created the effect that makes it look like the model is in two paces at once. I chose to place the model in front of a natural area as i felt it contrasted well with the flowers that are on her top. However if i were to change something to this image i would like to have made sure that the model is in line when taking the second image to merge.

This is another example of my multiple exposure response. My thoughts behind this photograph was to create the effect that the model was standing in front of the wall serval times. I like this effect as you are able to create something that is not possible to be with the human eye. If i were to do this photograph i would try to make sure that the model stays the same distance away from the camera as this has coursed a slight difference in the positioning of the model.

Blurring Work Diary

This is one of my response to the technique blurring. My thoughts before taking the photograph was that i wanted the hair of the model to blurred the most and i feel that this was successful. I did this my simply asking the models to shake her hair from side to side to create the effect of the hair looking blurred, I like this technique as you are able to see and create something in which the human eye can not see in real life however the camera is able to capture it due to me setting it to a fast shutter speed.

Location Portraiture Work Dairy

When photographing location portraiture, i felt that photographing the model from behind gave a alternative look to the photograph however is still able to location portraiture. With this photograph, you can almost imagine the model looking proudly at the building as if it is their own. I also wanted to create depth of field in this photograph when referring to the building and i feel that this is successful as it appears to become more blurred the further away it is.
This is one of my own responses to location portraiture. I have position the model in a way in which she is looking up at the building with her arms crossed to portray her as a powerful, authoritative figure. I have taken it at a low angle along with a wide angle to give a distorted perceptive. By incorprating the sky into the photograph, i feel that it separates the two building.

Multiple Imagery Work Dairy

This is one of the of my studio multiple imagery responses. When thinking about this shoot, i decided that i wanted to focus on the mouth area of the subject. I chose different mouth expressions and then put them together using the multiple imagery technique which has allowed me to show various emotions within one photograph. I decided to make it black and white as it gave a even tone throughout the photograph and it allowed the facial expression to create a atmosphere/emotion rather than the colour.

This is one of my location multiple imagery responses. When thinking about this shoot i decided that i wanted to focus on the sky and the different cloud patterns. When editing each individual  photograph for the multiple imagery photo, i was intending to make the sky appear darker and the clouds appear more dense and 3D like. When putting the photographs together, i decided carefully as to where to place each individual photograph as i wanted the photographs with more clouds to be in the centre of the multiple imagery.
